May 21, thoughts

Today was spent sorting through thinks I'd like to take with me, running errands and having "tea" with Jasmine and Alana (granddaughter and great-grand). It's a beautiful day, hot, little humidity, blue skies, the trees are lush and green, flowers are blooming and Ken's garden is producing more lettuce than we could possibly use; so we share it.
What's it like today in Gaza?
I just heard a plane flying over. What sounds are coming from the sky in Gaza? Airplanes? Helicopters? Drones? Fighter Jets? Birds? How does it sound when bombs being dropped on your neighborhood, your house? I remember noise from low flying helicopters in Ramalah and Bidu. It made talking, even thinking, impossible. Vibrations from the propellers' caused everything to vibrate leaving you in a shaken state.
Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza live with Israeli's constant harassment. Day in and day out Israeli forces do their best to inflict fear, uncertainty and humiliation on Palestinians. They hope the Palestinians will "go away" They won't! Palestinians are proud people. That land's been theirs for centuries and they aren't going anywhere. Nor should they have to!
It's difficult for me to understand Israel's government. Israelis are living in an atmosphere of fear; most of it created by their own government.
The strong military presence on the streets in Israel doesn't set a tone of security. It causes feelings of threat, vulnerability and fear. Even when there is little to be afraid of.
