I left Gaza yesterday in the afternoon, traveled to the Cairo airport for my flight at 1:00 AM today June 1, arrived at JFK about 6:30 this morning, was met by Ken, had breakfast in Edison, New Jersey and was home here in Doylestown around 11.
My journey to Gaza was extremely meaningful and heart wrenching. Now I'll need time to digest and reflect on the things I saw, heard and thought. And where will I go from here? I know I want to put together a "show," "talk" or "report back" whatever you want to call it and share my story of "seeing for myself." Our group has decided to take on some major projects and I've signed on to work on some of them. There are additional options available and certainly ones I'm not even aware of.
My first bit of digesting and reflecting was done this afternoon when I read my blog and became unglued by all the errors, I need an editor!! My apologies for the mess. I'll try to do better.
I did make additions to some of posts where I'd left out information and thought it should be included in the post. Tomorrow I plan to go through my journals, gather missing information or thoughts and begin to blog them on new posts. You're welcome to follow along if you'd like.

Susan, thank you so much for sharing your experience (and for going in the first place)!! Sounds like an awesome experience, and an incredible group of women.
ReplyDeleteThis firsthand experience is exactly what we need to get beyond the current stalemate in the Middle East. President Obama & George Mitchell seem to be making headway on an official level, but citizen-level public diplomacy on US soil and in the region is just what we need most...
And I think your focus on the grandchildren is spot on - they are the ones who will make a difference... Mabrouk - I can't wait to hear what name you choose for the group :)
