Texting from Cairo, children, wars & Grandmothers

A text message arrived this evening from Emma. She's in Egypt. How does that happen? It amazes me!! She's in Cairo, passing on details about our accommodations. Tomorrow, I'm shopping for insect repellent!
Today I worked at my new little job at "Busy Bee" in Doylestown....home of an amazing selection of awesome children's toys.
It's a small world! One of today's customers has a daughter who's made a short film "Anna's Playground" dealing with the impacts children experience during war. And I'm on my way to Gaza to see for myself the impacts of war on the children in Gaza.
How is it possible people ignore and insulate themselves from the destruction children throughout the world are being forced to experience. Our children are our hope for the future. They deserve better than they are receiving!
As a Grandmother. I have flourished! Children always captured my attention and heart. Now I have age and silver hair on my side, I am at liberty to indulge my whims and theirs. Gram, as I'm called, can be as wild as she pleases or offer a quiet, safe harbor for a child needing comfort. What a wonderful privilege it is being at this stage in life. Grandchildren bring joy, ideas, opportunities, stimulation and wonder into your life as well as love.
What if Grandmothers ruled the world? Would there be wars? Would there be hunger? This is just a start. Let me know your thoughts.
I'm certain Grandmothers in Gaza share the same hopes and dreams for their grandchildren that I do for mine. On this trip I'll have opportunities to share thoughts and ideas with them. Perhaps, we can begin building a better, safer place for our grandchildren and all children.
